Stuck on an deserted Island

“This is when you say a secret password to this tool. It will help you. It has these for rainy days (the gold pipe cleaner) they going to spread out and it will create an umbrella so it doesn’t get wet.”

LI - use your imaginations to invent a tool
LI - explain what your tool is and how it works

You are a courageous captain of a travelling ship. Due to a mighty storm your ship sinks to the bottom of the ocean and you are the only one who make it to an deserted island. You have a magical balloon, pipe cleaners and paper rolls. Come up with an invention that will help you with your escape!

I’m a Maths Guru

LI - roll two dice and add the numbers
LI - tell the time

We’ve learnt how to use two dice to add the dots together. We played a game with a buddy and took turns rolling the dice. We helped each other counting if one was stuck.

Telling the time is important. We even timed how long it took the pizza man to deliver our dessert pizza. 1 o’clock is lunch time. I know this because the bells goes at school and also in my tummy!

Silly Sentences

LI - write independently and sound out the beginning, middle and last sounds of words in a sentence.

Now that we know how to listen to the sounds and form first sounds, end sounds, digraphs and even the middle sounds, we can now write sentences by ourselves!!! This is one of the silly sentences I wrote down - My cat is not fat but my hen is not thin.

I am a Marble Maker

LI - to read out loud my sentences

After reading the story ‘The Marble Maker’, Room 2 has made a beautiful marble using salad spinner and paint. We also talked about feelings and how we feel after making the piece of art. Did we feel proud? Do I love my marble? What does the colours make me feel?

Making Bread

LI - observe change from liquid to solid

We made bread. We added the ingredients following a special recipe (please refer to our Poem book). We used our skills we learned before to measure the ingredients. Mrs Christie and Miss Lee brought in their bread machine and we watched it go chug chug chug and mix our dough. When Mrs Christie cut the dough it felt like soft marshmallow. We told the story of The Little Red Hen as we watched the dough going in the oven. We had our bread with jam butter or marmite.
Yum!

Measuring cups and spoons

LI - to measure using baking tools

Room 2 are getting ready for our big baking day. We used measuring cups and spoons to measure how much we needed when Mrs Christie (our student teacher) asked us 1 cup or 1/2 cup and 1 table spoon and 1 teaspoon. We also sorted the bears and their porridge from smallest to biggest.

Phonics time!

LI - to recognise the first sound of a word

In Room 2 we are trying our best to sound out the sounds that we hear in a word. The word queen begins with a q, volcano begins with v, kangaroo begins with k and zoo begins with z! Look at the beautiful forming of my letters.
